No Seattle Ford owner wants to have an emergency while on the road. The service technicians at Sunset Ford do everything they can to keep your vehicle running smoothly. But the fact is, emergencies are just that – emergencies. And they can happen to anyone, no matter how much you baby your Ford. To help you come through these emergency situations more easily, it’s important to have an emergency kit.
Jumper Cables or Portable Battery Charger
If your battery dies and your car won’t start, the last thing you want is to be stranded somewhere on the outskirts of Seattle. Jumper cables, and knowing how to use them, are a great start. But if you’re truly in the middle of nowhere, it might be hard to find someone who can provide a live battery to jump your car from. Instead, a portable battery charger enables you to jump your own battery. Having one, or both, in your emergency car kit can save you a frantic call to the tow truck and lots of waiting.
Sure, you’re probably not taking your Ford into the mountain wilds, but some basic survival items are still a good idea. A small shovel can be invaluable during the winter if you get stuck in a drift. And since we know duct tape fixes everything, there’s no reason you shouldn’t have a roll in your car. It’s also a good idea to have a small first aid kit with items like Band-Aids, OTC painkillers and rubbing alcohol. Even a trip to the beach can result in small cuts and scrapes that should be cleaned and covered properly. Also, a blanket. If you’re stuck somewhere and it’s cold, you’ll be glad you have it. But a blanket is also great to sit on if you’re waiting for a tow truck or other help to arrive and you need to get out of the car. Just be sure you’re safe and can still be seen from the road.
